History Hope's Bridge began with an Advisory group of seemingly unrelated individuals who, through personal or professional experiences, saw the critical needs and consequences of so many families in crisis. We began meeting on a regular basis and started researching and sharing information about problems unique to our individual disciplines, but one factor which was consistently identified as an immediate and grave need was that of children in crisis in our very own community.
Many hours of research and exploration by the group established a dire and immediate need in this and surrounding counties for services for children in crisis. There are currently no available non-governmental services of this nature in the Hope's Bridge proposed service area.
The decision was made to bring our research and conclusions to the rest of the community to request feedback, share resources, potential solutions, and identify partnerships for establishing these needed services in Polk and surrounding counties. The response from the community meeting was overwhelmingly in support of the ideas presented by the Hope's Bridge Advisory board to continue moving forward. The meeting included breakout sessions in which various community leaders representing 25 different agencies in the proposed service area exchanged ideas and information relating to the creation of such an organization as Hope's Bridge. Following the community meeting, the Hope's Bridge Advisory board established a timeline for incorporation, non-profit status, Board expectations and appointments, and began researching, and preparing for funding options.
